Rahul Gandhi appeared at a court in Mumbai for a defamation case hearing, filed against him by a Mumbai-based lawyer and RSS worker. Gandhi pleaded not guilty and has been released on a surety of Rs 15,000. The court had issued summons against Gandhi and CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury for their alleged defamatory comments linking journalist Gauri Lankesh’s killing with the “BJP-RSS ideology”. A Delhi court on Thursday allowed former media owner Indrani Mukerjea to turn approver in the INX case which involves former Union minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram. In her application to turn approver, Mukherjea prayed for pardon in the case in exchange of full and true disclosure. Fishermen in the Ganga at Prayagraj. A flood warning has been issued to 19 districts of Uttar Pradesh by the Flood Management Information System Centre (FMISC) this week, in view of the rise in river water level following heavy rain in Nepal. “The districts in the basin of Ganga, Ghagra and Sharda rivers have been issued a fresh alert after water level in these rivers crossed the danger mark,” said FMISC executive engineer Mithilesh Kumar.
