Photos: An unprecedented Eid for India in the shadow of Covid-19
Unprecedented circumstances call for unprecedented measures and Eid-ul-Fitr, the Muslim festival of celebration marking the end of the month of Ramzan has been no exception, in times when the world is coming to grips with the coronavirus pandemic. Joyous crowds spilling on to the streets after the early morning prayers, celebratory hugs, groups in their festive best out in markets, and the ubiquitous visits to homes to share in sweetmeats and greetings –these were all sights missing from this year’s Eid celebrations in India.
