Photos: India at 5 million Covid-19 cases; recoveries highest globally

The surge of Covid-19 cases in India has taken the tally of infected people to above five million, as the country remains the second most coronavirus infected in the world. According to the Union health ministry data, the active number of cases stand at 995,933. India is currently in the fourth stage of unlock which has provided people access to metro rail travel and gymnasiums among other relaxations even as the cases are rampantly rising. However, the only silver lining for India is that the recovery rate of those infected by the virus stands at 78.28 percent. The gap between recovered and active cases is on a constant increase amid widespread testing and medical infrastructure intact to fight the virus.
