Photos: Mumbai’s Covid-19 cases rise 104% month on month in September
Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai rose 104% between September 1-22 as compared to the same period in August, data from the state health department shows. The number of deaths recorded between these two periods meanwhile, have seen a comparative drop to 862 in September from 990 in August. Civic authorities claim the spike in the number of cases is owing to increased testing which has doubled from 5 lakh to over 10 lakh between August 1 to September 22.

Dr Siddarth Paliwal, a city-based private health consultant, told HT, “It is a good sign that the number of deaths has come down despite the number of cases going up drastically.
