A group of 11 youths attacked a 19-year-old youth with sharp weapons over personal enmity in Laxminagar, Dattawadi, on Saturday night. The injured has been identified as Dhananjay alias Narayan Adagale.

Dhanraj Adgale (18), the victim’s brother, lodged a first information report (FIR) at the Dattawadi police station. Police have arrested two accused identified as Suraj Santosh Misal (19) and Akshay Santosh Nevkar (19) and booked them under sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), including attempt to murder. The remaining nine are still at large.

According to the police, the victim got into a quarrel with one of the 11 accused a month ago. On Saturday, some members of the group had another argument with the victim, which lead to the murderous assault. The victim has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital.

According to the police, efforts are on to find the criminal antecedents of the group and whether the accused are part of an organised crime syndicate or not. Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage of the crime spot is also examined.
