Maharashtra action committee, who have been fighting the case of the murdered techie Mohsin Shaikh, has filed an application with the session’s court Pune for the appointment of district public prosecutor Ujjwala Pawar for the trial. Earlier, special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam had withdrawn from the case on June 19 without citing any specific reason.

Mohsin’s father, Sadique Shaikh, handed over the letter to district session court requesting to appointment of Ujjwala Pawar as public prosecutor for trial. Mohsin was allegedly bludgeoned to death by the members of Hindu Rashtra Sena. Mohsin’s murder was a fallout of riots that took place over defamatory posts uploaded on Facebook by unidentified persons.
Activist Azhar Tamboli of Maharashtra Action Committee said, “We have requested the court to appoint district public prosecutor Ujjwala Pawar for the trial.” Earlier, Mohsin’s father had requested Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnvis to appoint public prosecutor Rohini Salian on the case.
