3 minor girls go missing from Pune rehabilitation centres

Two missing complaints have been registered, one each at Deccan and Yerawada police stations on Monday, wherein three minor girls have been missing from rehabilitation homes, said police.

In the first case, a 68-year-old woman lodged a complaint at Deccan police station stating that two minor girls have been missing from Saint Crispin Home, Karve road . According to the complainant the girls have been missing since September 30. The complainant alleged that the girls have been enticed by unidentified persons.

BD Mete, police sub inspector, Deccan police station said, “The preliminary investigation is being carried out and we are looking at the CCTV footage available from the nearby areas.”

A case under section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered, said Mete.

In the second case, a 43-year-old Vishrantwadi resident lodged a complaint at Yerawada police station stating that a 17-year-old girl has been missing from Muktanagan Rehabilitation Centre, Alandi road. According to the complainant the girl has been missing since September 30.

Amol Waghmare, police sub inspector, Yerawada police station said, “Prima facie, it seems that some unidentified persons have lured the girl before kidnapping her. Investigation is on to find out their whereabouts. We have invoked section 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC. ”

According to the police, in both the cases, the girls were undergoing treatment at the rehabilitation centres and hailed from lower economic sections of the society.
