Tell us about your college years...

I did a diploma course in photography at the Fergusson College in 2002 and also completed my graduation in botany from the same college in 2004.Later, I did a diploma(level 2) in wine and spirits from Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), London.

How did the shift from botany to advertisement happen?

Though I pursued photography and Botany at Fergusson College, I have been active in advertising, political consultancy and events for more than 18 years.

How did you fair in academics?

I was an average student who loved to take part in all kinds of college activities. I was the general secretary of my college in the final year and we converted the old bunglow near the first gate as the students’ union headquarters.

Tell us about your interest in viticulture

I was interested in the field of ecology and viticulture from the beginning. This translated into wines and related fields.

A little about your Initial years after college

I joined my family business, worked in advertising and events for a few years. I also acted in some daily television soaps, theatre and films. I have been the cultural head for a political party which helped me learn and gather experience need for political consultancy. At the same time, I was also learning about wine and the Indian markets’ perception about it. So, I was able to organise the first Indian multi-brand wine festival in India. After its success, along with my fellow wine loving friends as partners, we started our own Indian wine promotion company called Monsoon Winds Pvt Ltd.

How has your career graph been so far? The highs and lows...

I am still in the learning process. I believe in working on different kinds of projects. I like to work on new projects, events and production and when these get appreciated, I feel good. That is my high. I have to give up my plans for my business and then I feel low.

Your upcoming/current project

I am working on a script for a feature film. Our wine and food company is the sole distributor of 52 types of Kodai cheese in Maharashtra and Karnataka. We are also planning to launch another food item soon. We will also be launching and renting out a holiday home for adventure lovers at a spot near to Madhe Ghat.

Future plans

I plan to open up a place which will offer a unique food and beverage experience to food lovers. Apart from that, my wife and I plan to open a small recovery shelter for injured strays and adopt animals. We also want to travel to ‘wine countries’ around the world.
