Dev Shah murder case: Deccan police arrest second accused

The Deccan police had arrested Ravi Sadashiv Chorge (41), a resident of Manik Baug on Sinhagad road, from Jalgaon, on Sunday. Pal aided the duo in hiding the two pistols used by them in the murder and hid the weapons at his house in Thane.

The Deccan Police have made their second arrest in the case involving the murder of city-based developer, Deven Shah. A police detection branch (DB) team arrested Surendra Pal (31) from Azad nagar in Thane on Tuesday.

The Deccan police had arrested Ravi Sadashiv Chorge (41), a resident of Manik Baug on Sinhagad road, from Jalgaon, on Sunday. Pal aided the duo in hiding the two pistols used by them in the murder and hid the weapons at his house in Thane.

Shivtare, Chorge’s accomplice, however, has still not been arrested. Police are also searching for an Indore-based man identified as Rajesh Agrawal in the case.

Chorge was a sub-agent of the Deven Shah. Chorge and Rahul Shivtare shot Shah dead on the night of January 13, in the parking lot of the deceased’s flat on Prabhat road. Chorge used to work with Shah on land deals and would facilitate the purchase of lands from farmers for Shah. Chorge also helped him to settle financial disputes. Police saidhe killed Shah because held back his commission money.

While addressing a press conference, DCP Basavraj Teli of zone -1, said, “After killing the deceased builder the duo were on the run and not staying at the same place in order to avoid arrest. While on run they went to first went to Bhor then continued hopping from one place to another, including Mahad, Khopoli, Dehu road, Burhanpur, Indore and Ujjain. “

“Their first port of entry in Madhya Pradesh was Burhanpur, after which they went to Indore, Ujjain and then again came to Burhanpur. The two accused were together for the last time in Burhanpur, after which they decided to go separate ways in order to avoid arrest and also, as they were losing on cash,” added Teli.

Teli informed that Shivtare stayed at Burhanpur while Chorge came to Jalgaon on Friday and was staying at one KP hotel. He further said, “Motive to kill Shah is not be been clarified. Indore-based real estate agent Rajesh Agrawal is also on run, however, his connection in the case is also not cleared. Things will be come to conclusion only after the interrogation of Chorge and the arrest of other accused Shivtare.”
