Female pickpocket nabbed by Wakad police

The Wakad police were investigating a case of theft filed by a woman in the second week of December.

A woman was arrested by the city police on Saturday morning for pickpocketing passengers in crowded buses.The woman was identified as Vanita Sakhare, a 40-year-old resident of Hadapsar, according to Wakad police.

The arrest was made by police sub inspector (PSI) Babar of Wakad police station. The Wakad police were investigating a case of theft filed by a woman in the second week of December. The complaint claimed that the woman had stolen a bag with a gold chain in it.

The police were on the lookout for the woman in the case. She also had cases of similar thefts registered against her at the Khadki and Swargate police stations, the police added.

Incidentally, the arrest of the woman happened two days after a group of three women stole cash worth Rs97,900 from two women travelling in a city bus. The case in the matter was registered at the Bhosari police station.

The police could not confirm whether the arrested woman was a part of the group of women involved in the Bhosari case.
