Five persons posing as Tata Motors’ employees try to rob two of Rs 10 lakh in Pune

The five men have been booked under Section 393 (attempt to commit robbery), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code at Bhosari MIDC police station.

The crime branch of Pimpri-Chinchwad persons on Wednesday arrested five people for trying to rob two employees of forex company to the tune of ~10 lakh by posing as employees of Tata Motors. The five accused have been identified as Sandeep Eknath Shinde (19), Vijaynagar in Dighi, Gautum Haridas Mane (40), a resident of Aundh, Bhushan Dinesh Gaikwad (20), a resident of Tadiwala road, Nilesh alias Gotya Vitthal Shedge (20), a resident of Koregaon Park and Sushil Achyutrao Suryavanshi (24), a resident of Tadiwala road.

One of the arrested men approached Lakshmi Forex Private Limited, located in Aundh, on their landline number. The caller claimed to be from Tata Motors and told them that they had foreign visitors who wanted to convert $12,000-$15,000 to Indian currency.

Subsequently, Pradeep Gaikwad and Mohan Adhagale of Lakshmi Forex went to the Tata Motors on April 17 and while crossing the road in order to enter the four-wheeler parking, two-three people arrived there and tried to whisk away the bag which had cash of ~10 lakh, but thye did not succeed.
