Four-year-old Pinak Satyawan Tonde drowned after falling into a newly constructed water tank in Shastrinagar, Kothrud on Sunday. An accidental death case has been lodged in connection with the incident. Police sub-inspector (PSI) Shailaja Jankar, the investigating officer, said that the water tank is constructed near a building under construction in the area where the neighbourhood children play hide and seek. The victim, who was also playing, lost his footing on the loose cover of the water tank and slipped. He fell in the water tank and nobody noticed it. Later, when his parents launched a search to find his whereabouts, the body was found in the water tank. The residents have demanded action for negligence against the real estate developer who has constructed the tank.
