During the tree plantation drive around 50 saplings of indigenous trees were planted at various spots on both housing society premises. Meditation session was followed by tree plantation drive.

Ganesh Mali, chairman of Vrudavan Society, said, “I am very thankful to the news organisation for helping us to make our campus green. As the government is trying to achieve the target of 13 crore tree plantation, our drive is a small step towards the goal.”

During the programme, volunteers from the Heartfulness Institute spoke about the importance of meditation and relaxation techniques used by the Institute to enhance skills. The volunteers said that many such initiatives, promoting meditation and relaxation, are conducted by the Institute for free.

Gajanan Patil, chairman of Vrundavanam Apartment, said, “Meditation is the need of this era because we cannot live in such a stressful life for a long time. And meditation is the only way to weed out depression, stress in our day-to-day life. We can easily reduce stress in our daily life by practicing meditation.”

Meditation and the relaxing session was followed by a tree plantation session by Mali; Gajanan Patil, chairman of Vrundavanam Apartment; and SK Thorat, chairman, Fortune East Co-op Hsg society, Kharadi and the housing society residents.

The meditation and tree plantation session was organised with the objective to create awareness for a mass movement to plant trees and take responsibility to make Pune a green smart city.
