Man bludgeons mother-in-law to death in Aundh
The accused identified as Digambar Owhal, 45, and the victim Sudamati Devram Gaikwad, 60, resided in Aundh. Owhal is married to Gaikwad’s daughter Jayashree. The victim and the accused have had a strained relationship since Owhal’s marriage to Jayashree.
The Pune police arrested a man after he allegedly bludgeoned his mother-in-law to death on Wednesday.
The accused identified as Digambar Owhal, 45, and the victim Sudamati Devram Gaikwad, 60, resided in Aundh. Owhal is married to Gaikwad’s daughter Jayashree. The victim and the accused have had a strained relationship since Owhal’s marriage to Jayashree.
Owhal had allegedly come to Gaikwad’s house in an inebriated condition. However, she refused to let him enter the house. Enraged by this, Owhal hit Gaikwad in the back of her head with a metal rod, stated the police. The incident happened at 3pm on Wednesday. Passersby who witnessed the incident, informed the police.
Gaikwad’s body was sent to Sassoon General Hospital for post-mortem, while Owhal has been taken into police custody.
A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Chatuhshrungi police station against Owhal.
