Pune police arrest man for duping senior citizen group of Rs 6.30 lakh

According to the police, Brahme placed a newspaper advertisement offering a special travel package for senior citizen with prices lower as compared to market rates

The Sinhagad road police officials arrested a 43-year-old man on Thursday for allegedly duping a group of senior citizens of Rs 6.30 lakh.

A case under relevant sections of IPC has been filed against Brahme at Sinhagad road police station. He has been sentenced to three days in police custody, by a local court (PICTURE FOR REPRESENTATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY)

The accused, identified as Ashutosh Brahme and resides in Chinchwad, runs a travel business.

According to the police, Brahme placed a newspaper advertisement offering a special travel package for senior citizen with prices lower as compared to market rates. A senior citizen group from Sinhagad road paid him a total of Rs 6.30 lakh for a tourist destination, but the accused cut off all communication with the group after receiving the money.

Devidas Gheware, police inspector, Sinhagad road police station, said that it was difficult to apprehend Brahme as he kept changing his address. On April 24, the police got to know that Brahme was planning to catch a bus from Swargate and nabbed him at the bus station.
