Mhada to use 200 acre prime land in Pune to house lower income groups

Addressing a press conference in the city on Wednesday, Ashok Kakade, Mhada Pune vice chairman and chief officer, said that 90 per cent of the land parcel in Pune region is urban.

The Maharashtra housing and area development authority (Mhada) plans to utilise its 200 acres prime land parcel in western Maharashtra for providing housing for the lower income groups. Addressing a press conference in the city on Wednesday, Ashok Kakade, Mhada Pune vice chairman and chief officer, said that 90 per cent of the land parcel in Pune region is urban.

Kakade said that the land parcels are located in Kolhapur, Pune and Sangli districts of western Maharashtra. “It has been our experience that many residents from rural hinterlands of the state are interested in buying properties in urban areas. We are focusing on providing affordable housing to different segments from the lower income group to the middle and other groups so that they too can enjoy the benefits of affordable city living,” said Kakade.
