Police book Pune hotel manager, owner for running illegal hookah parlour

The police have accused the duo of providing smouldering charcoal to youths for smoking hookah which according to the police officials could endanger their lives.

The Pune police have booked the hotel manager and owner of Green villa Hotel in Koregaon Park on Friday on charges of allegedly running an illegal hookah parlour.

The owner has been identified as Hamza Shafique Rangooni (32), a resident of Kondhwa and manager Amolchand Shamrao Dhupe (32), a resident of Koregaon Park.

The police have accused the duo of providing smouldering charcoal to youths for smoking hookah which according to the police officials could endanger their lives.

Investigating officers said that the management did not follow safety rules and violated the law which made them act against the accused.

The Pune police have been raiding a number of hookah parlours and illegal establishments to rein in the offenders and send a strong message to residents and businessmen to uphold the law.
