With light showers last week, many places in the state experienced some respite from the heat. However, parts of Vidarbha still blazed and according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the heat wave will continue in Vidarbha till May 23.

The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 47.5 degrees Celsius at Brahmapuri and the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 21.5 degrees Celsius in Pune.
On Sunday, Pune witnessed a day maximum of of 38.2 degrees Celsius and night minimum of 21.5 degrees Celsius. IMD forecasts that in the coming week, the city temperature will be around 38 degrees Celsius and the sky shall remain clear.
IMD also forecast that the heavy rainfall is likely in Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, till May 24. Thunderstorms accompanied with gusty winds are likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and Kerala, also till May 24.
