Pune couple extorts Rs 10K, gold from woman’s ex-lover, booked

The accused have been identified as Sandhya Modak and Rohit Modak. According to the complaint filed by the victim, Rohit along with a few of his friends on April 17 visited the victim’s residence on Sus road and accused him of various crimes. The group beat up the victim, threatened him and left the place after stealing the gold and money in his possession.

On April 20, the couple approached the victim demanding Rs 50 lakh, stating they would file a false police complaint against him if he did not oblige. The victim approached the police and filed a complaint against the duo. According to the victim, he dated Sandhya prior to her marriage to Rohit.

A case under Sections 420 and 383 have been lodged against Sandhya and Rohit at Hinjewadi police station. P Ghije, sub-inspector, Hinjewadi police station is investigating the case.
