Pune police rescue kidnapped businessman, arrest four

Pimpri police apprehended four persons on Wednesday and rescued a businessman who was kidnapped on May 13. The victim’s family and a friend gave a ransom of Rs 2.5 lakh to the kidnappers before the police managed to arrest the abductors.

According to the police, Yadnesh Vinod Tilwa (33), a businessman, was forced by the kidnappers to get into a Toyota Etios sedan near Vishal E-Square in Pimpri at 11.20 pm on May 13. Tilwa owns a marketing company, Magic Trick, in Pune and is a resident of Shinde vasti in Ravet.

Primary information shows that the kidnappers took Tilwa to Nashik, Aurangabad and Jalgaon, said the police officials.

“Four kidnappers and Tilwa were found in Jalgaon by the local police. A team from Pimpri-Chinchwad police has been dispatched to arrest the offenders,” said sub-inspector DN Nikam of Pimpri police station who is investigating the case.

Two of the kidnappers have been identified as Kishor Sawant and Dilip Avsarmal.

Tilwa’s brother Vishal received a call made from the victim’s phone demanding Rs 10,00,000. A family friend of the victim pitched Rs 2,00,000 and Vishal transferred Rs 50,000 to a Canara Bank account number provided by the kidnappers, according to the police.

The car used in the kidnapping is registered in Pune in the name of Krushna Tours and Travels.

The complaint was lodged by the victim’s wife who is a homemaker. A case under Sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 364(a), 384 (kidnapping for ransom), 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code was registered against at least five persons at the Pimpri police station.
