Pune rural police so far arrested 42 persons in Chakan violance

Local police has so far arrested 42 persons in connection with the violence in Chakan and has till Monday morning detained over 100, said senior police official.
After analysing hours of video footage, police teams have managed to identity and arrest 42 persons. Police officials said more suspects will be arrested soon.
Twelve suspects were arrested during late Sunday evening from Chakan town and surrounding areas. Most of them are in the age group of 18 to 35 years, added officials.
Tejaswini Satpute, additional superintendent of police (Pune rural), said, “As of now, we have arrested 42 people who were responsible for deliberately spreading violence in Chakan. We are analysing videotape with the help of the persons detained. We have identified more persons who will be arrested soon,” said Satpute.
Police have booked around 4,000 persons for the violence during the Maratha agitation on July 30. As many as 100 vehicles were damaged, 30 of them torched, during the Maratha protest that turned violent.
“We have registered a case in Khed police station. We have also arrested three types of persons, including local anti-social elements, employees originally hailing from Beed, Nanded and Osmanabad districts and working in manufacturing units, and residents from slum areas in Pune.”
According to Patil, the police investigation will speed up after August 9, when Maratha outfits have called for a Maharashtra bandh. Police also informed that the arrested persons are not associated with any political party, but they are investigating each and every possibility in this case.
During the violence that erupted during the agitation, police booked around 5,000 people for damaging more than 100 vehicles, torching 30 vehicles and injuring eight police personnel. The vandals blocked roads for hours.
