The autonomy status has been given for a period of 10 years, effective from academic year 2019-20.

“The certificate for all the undergraduate and postgraduate courses will have the stamps of both the college and SPPU. So, students need not be worried. And considering that our students come from different walks of life, the fee hike will be between 5 and 10 per cent,” said Gajanan Ekbote, chairman of Progressive Education Society, which runs the college.

“The syllabus for first year UG courses and part I of PG courses will be changed partially from the coming academic year. In the next couple of years we plan to start new UG and PG courses,” said Rajendra Zunjarrao, principal of the college.

The college administration revealed that it was working towards getting autonomous status for the past six months.

“We have started construction of an 11-storied building in our campus, which will have 280 classrooms. It will be developed in three phases,” said Zunjarrao.

He also revealed that the development of the online examination centre with 100 computers is under process. There will also be many examination reforms under the continuous evaluation system, he added.

The Modern College is the only college in the country which has collaborated with University of Melbourne, Australia and started the Bachelor of Science.
