Pune school principal demands kiss from student, booked under Pocso Act
Pune The Yerawada police have booked a school principal on charges of molesting a Class 9 schoolgirl on the pretext of demanding a kiss. The accused has been booked under the relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the police, the incident happened in April when the school was conducting exams. The victim had gone to the staff room for some work and as the place was in darkness, she tried to open a window but was suddenly groped by the principal from behind.
He held her tight and did not allow her to leave till she gave her a kiss. The girl somehow managed to escape and went home. Since that day she has been trying to avoid going to school and, upon being asked by the parents, she told that she was afraid of the principal who molested her.
Later, with the help of counsellors, she lodged an FIR against the accused, the police said.
