Jesh Krishna Murthy watched his first animation video in 1986 when he was 18.

His quest to learn took him to Bell Center in Toronto, Canada where he studied Digital Animation. After working extensively in leading facilities in North America and Europe, he returned to India in 2005 to set up Anibrain VFX India.

Jesh says, “Putting India on the world VFX map by using home grown talent has been a passion for me and that is what I have always aimed for”.

Over the last 12 years, Anibrain has a VFX, Animation and AR VR creative studio in Los Angeles and Pune and employs nearly 800 skilled artists, producers and support teams.

So, how is the Indian market different from the Hollywood one? Jesh says, “The Indian market is newer compared to Hollywood’s several decades of experience.

“We have taken time to cultivate a good ecosystem and nurture talent as knowledge, education and infrastructure take time. However, India has evolved with more and more complex work being done here. From Hollywood we need to learn the importance of planning in pre-production, production and post- production stages apart from budgeting and time management. These are big metrics for better quality.”

. On the skills required to be in animation and VFX, he says, “Cutting edge work requires pushing envelopes continuously. In certain cases, new technology must be invented to deliver shots.

“One must be extremely creative and innovative too. Attitude is extremely important. So, be patient and consistent as it takes time to master techniques and the craft. It is very important to be curious and be continually exposed to art. It could be in any form or medium. And nothing compares to the value of hard work.”

Bafta and Oscar awarding winning Creative Studio Framestore, one of the top visual content creators globally, announced their joint venture with Anibrain in February 2018.

This partnership of two creative influencers is a great opportunity to redefine global collaboration in the field of creativity and visual innovation.
