Six killed in two separate mishaps on Pune-Mumbai e-way, highway

According to the Kamshet police who rushed to the mishap spot on expressway, three persons who were injured in the accident were aleady rushed to Lokmanya Hospital in Pradhikaran, Nigdi by onlookers and further probe is on to identify the victims were occupants of which vehicle.

Taking a U-turn on the Pune-Mumbai expressway proved fatal for 60-year-old driver of Honda City as the four-wheeler hit a Toyota Fortuner coming from the opposite lane in Maval area.

Meanwhile, a few hours after the expressway incident, another accident between a Tempo and a car in Lonavla along the old Pune-Mumbai highway claimed five lives and left two women injured.

The driver of Honda City, identified as Boney Masey, a resident of Colaba in Mumbai, died on the spot on expressway.

According to the Kamshet police who rushed to the mishap spot on expressway, three persons who were injured in the accident were aleady rushed to Lokmanya Hospital in Pradhikaran, Nigdi by onlookers and further probe is on to identify the victims were occupants of which vehicle.

Masey was driving from Mumbai to Pune on Honda City, before he took the U-turn and the Toyota Fortuner, on the way from Pune to Mumbai, hit him.

“On the Mumbai to Pune lane, the Honda City tried to take a U-turn close to 75km mark speed. The Fortuner hit the car and the driver in the Honda City was killed,” said police sub inspector (PSI) CV Kamble of Kamshet police station.The injured were identified as Rajani Dariyanani, 70; Neeta Motwani, 65; and Neeta Pahumac, 69, and were shifted to intensive care.

“While they are vitally stable, they have suffered fractures. One has fractured ribs while one has a fractured leg and other injuries,” said a doctor in the casualty ward of Lokmanya hospital.

Meanwhile, the highway accident happened near hotel Sai Moreshwar located near the Khandala Ghat as a Blue Maruti Ritz rammed into a Tempo. The names of the five deceased and two injured people could not be confirmed. The police said that the deceased included the staff of Rhythm Hotel located near the mishap spot.

The Lonavla city police rushed the injured to Talegaon general hospital. The car is registered in the name of Zoheb Memon under MH04DY6346.
