Speeding mini truck crushes man helping cab driver change flat tyre on Pune-Mumbai expressway

Helping a cab driver change a flat tyre proved costly for this Good Samaritan as a speeding vehicle knocked him down on the Pune-Mumbai expressway during the wee hours of Monday.
Anil Mangsule, 40, was holding his mobile phone’s flashlight to aid the cab driver, who was replacing the Toyota Innova’s punctured wheel near Lonavla, when an approaching Tata Ace light commercial vehicle ran over him.
According to police officials, Mangsule, a native of Sangli, died on the spot
Following the incident, Lonavla police arrested the commercial vehicle’s driver Satish Namdev Zare, 33, a resident of Naregaon and native of Nanded.
“Mangsule was headed towards Mumbai in the car, owned by a private travel service firm, when the incident happened at 2:30 am at Devale village. While the other occupants of the cab took other vehicles to continue their journey after the Innova got a flat tyre, Mangsule chose to help the cab driver replace the tyre,” said police naik S Chavre of Lonavla rural police station.
The driver of the Innova was identified as Mohammad Rafiq Shaikh, 40, from Mumbai while the car is registered in Mumbai in the name of one Nitin Nayar. The Tata Ace is registered in the name of the arrested man.
A case under Section 304(a) (causing death due to negligence) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered in the matter at Lonavla rural police station. Police sub inspector Gaikwad Balaji will be investigating the case.
