Techie robbed of Rs 17,000 in Pune

PUNE An unidentified man late on Wednesday night forcibly took Rs 17,000 from a 24-year-old software engineer, claiming that the latter had caused a serious accident.

The incident happened around 11.30 pm at Dukkar khind on Katraj-Dehu road bypass, when the employee of a multinational software firm was returning home after work.

The victim, identified as Rahul Ghyar, in his complaint with the Warje police stated that while he was on his way home on a two-wheeler, an unidentified person came to him and threatened him saying that an accident took place due to his rash driving where a woman was grievously injured. The unidentified accused demanded compensation. He took Ghyar to an SBI ATM and forced him to withdraw Rs 17,000 and took the amount. PSI J B Mane said the investigation is on.
