According to India meteorological department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Pune is expected to increase to 39 degrees Celsius this week. They added that the minimum temperature recorded on Thursday was 19.5 degrees Celsius, which is also expected to increase to 20 degrees Celsius in the coming week up to May 9.
IMD has also predicted thunderstorm over several regions across the country, including parts of Vidarbha, while heatwave conditions have been predicted for parts of central Maharahstra, due to which temperatures are likely to go up in the next 24 hours.
Officials from IMD said, "Strong low-level convergence, moisture incursion and presence of jet speed winds in the upper levels are providing conducive conditions for the occurrence of severe thundersqualls and heavy rainfall at isolated places in various parts of the country. Thunderstorm, accompanied with gusty winds, are very likely at isolated places of Vidarbha on May 4."
The officials added that heatwave conditions will prevail over parts of central Maharashtra over the next three to four days, due to which temperatures are expected to rise.
