Three arrested for assaulting policemen in Pune

According to the police, the trio were riding triple seat when they were accosted by a police team at Bhel chowk on Friday night

The Nigdi police arrested three youths for arguing with the police patrol team on duty at Bhel chowk and breaking the windshield of the police jeep during the scuffle.

They have been booked under Sections 353,427, 279 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 34 of the Motor Vehicles Act (HT/PHOTO)

According to the police, the trio were riding triple seat when they were accosted by a police team at Bhel chowk on Friday night. The trio picked up an argument with the police, abused the policemen and later broke the windshield of the police vehicle.

The three accused were arrested and have been identified as Rahul Prasad Patil (25), Shubham Prahlad Patil (27) and Amit Shantilal Patil (27), all residents of Walhekarwadi. They have been booked under Sections 353,427, 279 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 34 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Constable Shakur Mohammad Fakir Mohammad Tamboli, who was a part of the police patrol team which was assaulted, lodged a first information report (FIR) in connection with the incident.
