Two arrested for duping six over fake jobs at Pune Municipal Corporation
Collectively, the duo duped these youngsters of Rs 43, 04,000
The Pune police arrested one man on Thursday for duping at least six youngsters on the pretext of falsely luring them towards bogus government job offers at Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). His partner was arrested last week. The accused have been identified as Vijay Shivaji Bhondave, a resident of Satara and Satish Vasant Lalbige, a resident of Mangalwar peth. The two have been remanded in police custody till Friday.
The complaint was lodged by Pramod Eknath Shinde, 27, resident of Swargate police quarters at Vishrambaug police station.
According to the complainant, between September 2016 and November 2017, Bhondave and Lalbige took money from the complainant on multiple occasions. The payment was made to secure a job in PMC. Shinde paid a total of Rs 12,54,000 to the two men.
Sangamnath Pargewar, police sub-inspector who is investigating the case said, “Out of the five youngsters that were duped, some of them were graduates, while some have studied till Class 12. The accused were offering them jobs like clerk, sweeper and cleaner on the basis of their qualification. The police are still investigating what the duo did with the money and if there are other victims.”
According to the police, besides Shinde, the accused duo have also duped Shivaji Raut, a resident of Bhor, of Rs 12 lakh; Ramesh Baban Paigude, a resident of Kalewadi, of Rs 4 lakh; Ashwini Keshav Suryavanshi, a resident of Swargate, of Rs 6 lakh; Bharat Babu Ingle, a resident of Pimpri-Chinchwad, of Rs 5 lakh and Sagar Rajendra Chikhalkar, a resident of Bhavle Ali of Rs 3.5 lakh. All of the victims were unemployed. Collectively, the duo duped these youngsters of Rs 43, 04,000.
A case under Sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (punishment for cheating) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused.
