Under-16 inter-club cricket: Misfields, extras cost Fun Fitness the game and knockout chance

Dhole Patil win the match by 40 runs in 18.2 overs, advance to next stage

Fun Fitness’s poor performance on the field by giving way 30 runs in misfielding and 20 in extras left the team out of the contest.

Dhole Patil won the match against Fun Fitness by 40 runs in 18.2 overs at the Katariya high school ground, Mukundnagar, on Wednesday.

This was the last chance for both the teams to qualify for the knockout stage of the underway Captain Shivrampant Vishnu Damle trophy under-16 inter-club cricket tournament.

Dhole Patil won the toss and elected to bat first. Aayush Divase played a good opening knock of 34 runs from 26 balls.

The middle order was well handled by skipper Mauz Sayyed 25 of 28 and Saiprasad Patil 45 of 37 not-out, the fourth wicket partnership of 63 runs from 54 balls helped the team to reach a defendable total of 146 runs for the loss of six wickets.

For Fun Fitness, Aditya Kamble (2-0-13-1) and Hrishikesh Joshi (4-0-29-1) managed to take wickets.

Chasing the target of 147, Fun Fitness openers Hrishikesh Joshi 11 of 27 and Abin Amitabh 26 of 31 took a long time to settle on the crease.

It took 3.2 overs to hit the first boundary and the team’s total score was only 29 for no loss at the end of the power play (6th over). Both the openers were back to the pavilion in the 12th over with a total of 63 runs on board. The team kept losing wickets in regular intervals and collapsed in 18.2 overs with 106 runs on board.

For Dhole Patil, Tanmay Kolhe with a good off-spin bowling figure of (4-0-30-4) helped his team to make it an easy win at the end of the game.“The batting line-up was good today as the team managed to build partnerships. I am happy that we got qualified for the knockout stage. We need to improve more on all departments for upcoming games,” said Mauz Sayyed, skipper, Dhole Patil.

Captain Fun Fitness, Hrishikesh Joshi, said that the team needs more practice sessions. Our players gifted the opposite team so many runs in extra and miss fielding.
