The victim, Gurkamal Singh, was hit by the Toyota Fortuner SUV (CH 01 AJ 7337) when he was crossing the road at about 11.30am. The driver took the boy to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Warring was not in the vehicle when the accident took place. The vehicle is owned by one Happy Sharma, a friend of Warring from Muktsar.

One Sujan Singh was driving the car and two other people, Gurpreet Singh and Randheer Singh, were in the vehicle. They were going to attend a ‘bhog’ ceremony at Butter Shrin village.

In-charge Doda police post ASI Rajinder Singh said no complaint has been filed by the victim’s family.

Warring, who is in Mumbai in connection with a party programme, said the car belonged to one of his friends and he used it often. “My family is in contact with the family of the victim,” he said, adding they would help the victim’s family in all possible ways. “We told the family that if they felt that the driver was at fault, they could lodge a case,” he said.

No case had been registered till 9.30pm when the report was filed.
