13-kg heroin found from near border after brief encounter in Ferozepur
The Border Security Force (BSF), on Friday, claimed to have seized 13-kg heroin worth Rs 65 crore with one pistol, one magazine and four rounds of ammunition after a brief encounter with Pakistani smugglers on Thursday night in the area of Satpal border outpost (BoP) in the Ferozepur sector.

On Thursday midnight, BSF personnel of 105 battalion deployed on the Satpal BoP noticed some suspicious movement of some people along the border fence. On being challenged the BSF personnel, they resorted to firing on BSF troops.
The troops also opened fire in self-defence, but the smugglers managed to escape taking cover of foggy weather, darkness and wheat crop. During search of the area, 13 packets, each weighing 1kg, of heroin with one pistol, one magazine and four rounds of ammunition were found lying near the fence.
RPS Jaswal, DIG (intelligence), revealed that during 2015, BSF units under the Ferozepur sector have made the under mentioned seizures:
Heroin: 18.345 kg (including Thursday night's seizure of 13 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin worth Rs 65 crore in the international market)
