The Punjab police in Chohla Sahib have booked two persons for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl near Gharka village, 20 km from Tarn Taran.

Police said the teenager was raped on the intervening night of January 17 and 18, but the family didn’t report the matter till Saturday after which a case was registered.

In her complaint to police, victim’s mother claimed that her daughter went to the market for buying milk at 6pm on January 17, and after she failed to return, relatives and villagers tried to look for her daughter, but in vain.

She alleged that her daughter returned home on the next day and told her that the accused kidnapped her in their car and took her away towards Gharka village, where they raped her in the open.

The accused were identified as Jodha Singh and Jasbir Singh of Mundapind village, 25 km from here.

“We don’t know the exact age of the absconding accused. Raids are being conducted to nab the duo,” said assistant sub inspector (ASI) Balwinder Kaur.

The ASI added: “Medical examination of the victim will be conducted on Monday.

A case under sections 376-D (gang rape), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 366 (procuration of minor girl) of the indian penal code (IPC) and sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act 2012 was registered against the accused.
