The Punjab police in Chohla Sahib have booked two persons for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl near Gharka village, 20 km from Tarn Taran.

Police said the teenager was raped on the intervening night of January 17 and 18, but the family didn’t report the matter till Saturday after which a case was registered.

“We don’t know the exact age of the absconding accused. Raids are being conducted to nab the duo,” said assistant sub inspector (ASI) Balwinder Kaur.

The ASI added: “Medical examination of the victim will be conducted on Monday.

A case under sections 376-D (gang rape), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 366 (procuration of minor girl) of the indian penal code (IPC) and sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act 2012 was registered against the accused.
