15-year-old Chandigarh girl found pregnant, teen boyfriend held

The matter came to light on Wednesday when the girl felt sick and informed her mother about uneasiness.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating his 15-year-old girlfriend, police said on Thursday.

Police said the matter came to light on Wednesday when the girl felt sick and informed her mother about uneasiness. On inquiring about her health, her mother came to know that she was pregnant.

Her family immediately rushed the girl to a local hospital in Chandigarh where a team doctors after checkup found the girl to be six months pregnant. As the girl is a minor, the doctors sounded the police.

The girl later revealed her relation with the 17-year-old boy, following which he was apprehended.

Cops have booked the teenaged boy under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code, and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

He was produced before a local court that sent him to judicial custody.

Investigating officials said family of the girl had requested to abort the foetus, but doctors declined the option.
