23-yr-old man thrashed, paraded naked in Amritsar

A 23-year-old man was paraded, in semi-naked condition, on the streets of Amritsar, and was brutally thrashed by some men after making him fully naked at an abandoned plot in Sandhu colony here. The incident that allegedly took place on Tuesday was video graphed in four clips, that have gone viral on social media.
The victim has been identified as Chainchal Singh of Kale Ghanupur locality. The incident took place on Tuesday when he went to meet her ‘ex-fiancé’ in Sandhu colony where he was caught by ‘the girl’s relatives’ and ‘thrashed’ by them.
In one of the video clips, Chainchal is seen on a street of Sandhu colony, in semi-naked condition, and was surrounded by nearly ten young men. He is also seen profusely bleeding from forehead and left arm. Those who were video graphing the act are abusing the victim in the clip for meeting their sister.
In an another clip, the man is seen being paraded in semi-naked condition on the streets of the colony, followed by some bike-borne men.
In two other clips, he is seen sitting on bare ground, in fully naked condition, in an abandoned plot of the colony. Surrounded by the young men, he is also being asked to do dance, besides being brutally thrashed, in the video.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) City-2, Lakhbir Singh, said, “Chainchal was engaged with a girl of Sandhu colony , however, later their engagement was called of, but despite that the duo was in contact with each other. On Tuesday, Chainchal had gone to meet the girl at her home, where he was caught by her relatives and thrashed by them.”
He said, “We got the videos on Wednesday and after examining it, we found the victim on Thursday. On the complaint of the victim, we have now booked 12 persons, including three by name—Happy, Vicky and Raja of Sandhu colony.” He said the accused had also snatched the victim’s mobile phone.
“A case under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 24 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 379 B (snatching), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 67 (punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of Information Technology Act was registered against the accused on Thursday,” Singh said.
The accused are absconding but will be arrested very soon, he added.
