Sources said Sapra has fled to Delhi and was using his ‘political influence’ to hush up the case. On Monday, however, Ridhima’s family met police commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh seeking a case of murder against Sapra.

Ridhima’s father, Anil Mahajan, alleged it was a pre-planned murder and two other men were also involved in it. All three suspects were caught in the CCTV cameras installed near the Mahajan abode. He added that Sapra had administered the celphos tablets to Ridhima, either by force or by mixing it in a drink.

Her friend said Ridhima was appeared ‘cheerful’ when she met her. Her death had come as a shock to her.

Friends said Pankaj and Ridhima were in a relationship for nine years but he was not serious about her. Ridhima’s parents got her engaged to someone else but Sapra spoiled it. Her friends also said he was to marry someone else but he concealed this fact from Ridhima.

Police ‘apathetic’

Police earlier filed proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC declaring suicide. After around 13 days, they booked Sapra for abetment to suicide.
