3 day conclave on economic development to begin at Pbi varsity

Department of Economics, Planning Commission Chair, Centre for Research in Economic Change and Centre for Development Economics and Innovation Studies (CDEIS) of Punjabi University are jointly hosting a three-day conclave of The Indian Econometric Society (TIES) from Friday.

Department of Economics, Planning Commission Chair, Centre for Research in Economic Change and Centre for Development Economics and Innovation Studies (CDEIS) of Punjabi University are jointly hosting a three-day conclave of The Indian Econometric Society (TIES) from Friday to discuss challenges and opportunities of economic development of the emerging global powers.

Former deputy chairman, Planning Commission, Government of India, Montek Singh Ahluwalia will deliver the inaugural address. Special lecture on 'Ïmpact of Euro-zone Crisis on China and India' will be delivered by director, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, professor Pami Dua.

Former vice-chancellor professor VN Pandit will deliver a special lecture on 'Ëthics, economics and finance'.

Other prominent economists participating in the conference are VR Panchamukhi, KL Krishna, Prasanta Pattnaik, all from University of California, USA, and NR Bhanumurthy and Mukul Majumdar from Cornell University, USA.

Chief statistician of India professor TCA Anant will deliver the valedictory address. More than 200 scholars will present their research papers in different technical sessions.
