Police on Sunday arrested three youths in their mid-20s on the charges of stealing two-wheelers and claimed to have recovered seven stolen vehicles along with a laptop from their possession.
Two of the accused, Balwinder Singh and Vikram Singh alias Monu, are residents of Tripri town in Patiala while the third accused, Deepak Kumar, is a resident of Ludhiana.
Addressing the media at the Civil Lines police station, superintendent of police (SP) city Daljit Singh Rana said that the police had acted on a tip off and had set up a naka at railway crossing number 24 and nabbed the accused while they were on a stolen bike.
The police claimed to have recovered five Honda Activa and two bikes from the accused which were allegedly stolen from ITI parking, SST Nagar, CMT College and Rajpura.
SP Rana said that the accused had been active in the city and the police were expected to recover more stolen vehicles. He added that they were on the look out of the dealer who used to help the accused in selling off the stolen vehicles. Stressing that the police were committed in curbing vehicular theft in the city, Rana said that they would carry out further investigations to arrest other gang members.
