The woman, Amritpal Kaur (32), was reportedly beaten to death by her husband Jassa Singh (35) and his brother Gaggi Singh (33) on Friday.

The duo attempted to fob off the murder as an electrocution and even called up the victim's brother Karamjit Singh to their home, claiming that his sister had been electrocuted.

However, a suspicious Karamjit could find no evidence and decided to lodge a police complaint on his sister's death.
In his complaint, Karmajit told the police that he suspected his brother-in-law of murder as he suspected her of having an affair.

On inquiry, Dirba station house officer Gurmel Singh registered a case under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (act done in furtherance of common intention) against the husband Jassa Singh and his brother Gaggi Singh.
The couple had sired three children - a 9-year-old boy and two girls aged 6 and 2.

The two brothers are now absconding.
