A 50-year-old man was booked for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl, daughter of his friend, at his shop in Makkar Colony of Giaspura in Ludhiana on Wednesday.

The victim was training under the accused identified as Jagdev, a tailor, police said.

In his complaint, father of the victim said the accused was a family friend and had started his daughter’s training in stitching during her summer holidays. He alleged that when his daughter came home on Wednesday, she was inconsolable.

“She told me that the accused had touched her inappropriately on the pretext of taking measurement and later raped her,” victim’s father told police.

The police booked the accused on Thursday.
