500 stray cattle in Bathinda to be shifted to cattle pound by Jan 31
The district administration will make part of the cattle pound at Har Raipur village functional soon and shift about 500 stray cattle to it by January 31.
Deputy commissioner Basant Garg said that Two sheds would be completed by this date.
He said that the administration would start catching the stray cattle to be shifted to the pound by January 15. The cattle pound is being constructed in Har Raipur village.
Garg said that the pound is spread over 15 acres and has a capacity of accommodating over 2,400 animals. He said that the land has been earmarked at three places for the project. The construction work has been started in around 8.5 acres. The pound is being constructed with the grants received from the government, contribution of the municipal corporation and donations from philanthropists.
According to official estimates, there are about 2,000 stray cattle in the city and all of these would be shifted to the pound after the pound was completed in phases.
