53 TB patients identified in Barnala villages

The health department has detected 53 patients suffering from tuberculosis (TB) out of 260 samples taken at six sputum check centres in different villages of Barnala district. Medicine is dispensed free of cost to TB patients at nearby health centre or DOTS under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP).

The health department has detected 53 patients suffering from tuberculosis (TB) out of 260 samples taken at six sputum check centres in different villages of Barnala district. Medicine is dispensed free of cost to TB patients at nearby health centre or DOTS under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP).

TB patients are required to take medicine regularly for a period ranging from six to eight months.

District TB officer Dr Navjot Pal Singh Bhullar said 454 patients have been enrolled for administering TB medicine since January this year.
