8 arrested for drug peddling
The Shakot police have arrested eight drug peddlers, including two women, for selling drug powder. Station house officer (SHO) Manjit Singh said the accused has been identified as Amrita of Shahkot, Sonia of Malsian village, Jagdeep Singh and Inderjit Singh of Nagal Ambian village, Balwinder Singh, Ravipal and Paramjit Singh Sodhi of Shahkot and Harpreet Singh of Gehlran village. At least 160-gram contraband has been recovered from their possession.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. The Mehatpur police also arrested Sukhdev Singh of Gobindpur village and Santokh Singh of Lohgarh village with 50-gram drug powder.
