Addl IG prison gets President's correctional service medal

Additional inspector general of prison, Haryana, Jagjit Singh, was awarded the President's correctional service medal for meritorious service.

An official spokesman said on Monday that the award was conferred on the eve of Republic Day. Singh was recruited as deputy superintendent, jail, prison department, on March 23, 1991 and was further promoted as superintendent, jail, on November 5, 2001.

During his postings at different jails, he had made efforts in improving environment in jail as well as for the prisoners and the prison's staff.
