The stadium was expected to be ready before last year's event. However, work still remains to be done, especially on the roofs of the blocks.

When contacted, Improvement Trust staff said: "Whatever little work is pending will be finished over the next couple of days. The stadium will host a successful event not only for the players and the dignitaries, but also for viewers," executive officer, Jatinder Singh told HT.

Meanwhile, a large posse of senior police officials, led by police commissioner Gaurav Yadav visited the stadium and reviewed the security arrangements, both inside and outside the stadium.

"We hope that there would be no hassle for smooth passage of traffic as well as parking of the vehicles of spectators. Elaborate arrangements have been made," Yadav told HT.
