Taking note of the fact that 27 municipal corporation vehicles were not registered, district transport officer (DTO) Anil Kumar Garg has asked the assistant district transport officer (ADTO) to check the papers of the vehicles at the MC office.
As per reports, among the un-registered vehicles are three Tata 407, one skylift, six tippers, two jetting machines, two JCB machines and 13 tractors.
Garg said, “I have asked the ADTO to visit the MC office and check all the papers of the vehicles which are not registered,” said Kumar. He said appropriate action would be taken after checking whether or not the MC had the required documents. “I will ensure that action is taken in case there are discrepancies in registering of the vehicles on MC's part,” said Garg.
MC has failed in getting registration certificates for its 27 vehicles even two decades after they were purchased. The most of the said vehicles were purchased in the nineties. A jetting machine was purchased in 2007.
According to the sources, a tipper of the MC was stopped by the police in Jagraon.
