STF busts nexus: Jail officials recover mobile from gangster Jaggu
A day after the Special Task Force (STF) unearthed a nexus wherein gangster Jaggu was accused of operating a drug nexus from within the jail, the Amritsar jail officials recovered a mobile phone from Jaggu on Wednesday.
The jail authorities submitted a complaint to the city police to register a fresh case against Jaggu.
AIG STF Rachpal Singh said, “We had arrested five persons along with 500 gram heroin on Tuesday. During preliminary probe, it came to light that gangster Jaggu, currently lodged in Amritsar central jail, operated the nexus from inside the premises. Jaggu used a mobile phone to run the nexus. The jail authorities have recovered the phone.”
The AIG STF also said, “Information about the people involved in the nexus and how they operated will only be clear once we bring Jaggu on production warrant. We are likely to take him in custody in a day or two,” claimed the officer.
Notably, the STF team after receiving a tip off had stopped a SUV on naka in the area of police station Sarai Amanat Khan and recovered 500 grams heroin from the occupants. The five persons in the car were identified as Sandeep Singh, Mandeep Singh, Garagjeet Singh, Bachittar Singh and Gursewak Singh.
The police officials claimed that during questioning it was revealed that Sandeep Singh bought heroin through Jaggu to supply it further.
