BSF deputy inspector general (DIG) MF Farooqui told reporters, “Based on specific information, BSF troops carried out a special search operation in the area on the intervening night of January 10 and 11.” He pegged the value of the heroin at `35 crore in the international black market.

Saying that vigil had been heightened along the Pak border, he added, “Keeping in view the vulnerability of the border from the smuggling point of view, especially in view of the growing wheat crop and foggy weather that give cover to anti-national elements, special guidelines have been issued.”
