While Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief president and former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal is trying to leave no stone unturned to ensure party candidate Naib Singh Kohar’s victory in the Shahkot assembly bypoll , his father and former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal is visiting villages in his constituency Lambi.

The bypoll was necessitated after the death of Akali MLA Ajit Singh Kohar. Since the poll campaign kicked off, the senior Badal hasn’t visited the segment once, not even on the day of filing of the SAD candidate’s nomination.

The nonagenarian leader has visited several Lambi villages to offer his condolences over the deaths among other things in the past week, a party leader claimed, adding that Ghumiara Khera, Lambi, Khiowali, Tarmala and Bheetiwala are among these villages. On Friday, Badal was in Maan village.

“Though he (Badal) is in his 90s, he addresses all the workers by their names,” said Akali leader Ranjodh Singh Badal.

“I am not able to visit Shahkot due to health reasons. As nothing substantial has been done by this government, people should teach it a lesson. Their candidate will lose his deposit .”
